Foglio22 is a premium crystalline titanium chopping board crafted from crystalline 99.99% titanium, which is softer than conventional titanium and thus kinder to your knife blades. Designed with safety and hygiene in mind, its non-porous surface prevents food residues from lingering, minimizing bacterial growth. Thanks to the natural antibacterial properties of titanium and its ease of cleaning, Foglio22 ensures a sanitary preparation area without releasing any harmful chemicals.
Crystalline Titanium
Unlike most competitors, who offer steel containing titanium or common laminated titanium, Foglio22 is made of pure crystalline titanium. The process that makes the crystalline titanium shine with its beautiful, large, unique crystals also makes the titanium softer. The resulting lower hardness of the chopping board surface is similar to that of bamboo or some hard timbers, and is critical to ensuring your knife blade won't dull quickly.
Competitor steel or non-crystalline titanium boards are considerably harder and will require you to sharpen your knife much more often.
A titanium chopping board is for a lifetime, but its beauty is not... and it's not supposed to be.
It will scratch. As explained above, it's made to be soft and therefore gentle on your knives. Over time, the surface of your chopping board will show the signs of your slicing and dicing. The grooves on the surface, however, are shallow, so there's very little risk of food residue building up inside them — they can be easily washed away with a wipe or simply under running water.
The titanium mostly deforms under the cutting action of a sharp blade. Unlike plastic and timber boards, very few particles of the crystalline titanium chopping board get dislodged and passed onto food. On top of that, the grade of titanium used is the same as that used to fabricate medical devices, so any titanium microparticles accidentally ingested pose no harm to your health.
Titanium is a very stable element that remains inert in contact with even your most challenging salty and acidic foods. It won't rust or absorb liquids; however, it's normal for some staining to appear if water or acidic food is left to dry on it. No fear — a quick cycle in the dishwasher will remove most stains. Alternatively, you can use an abrasive sponge or steel wool to gently bring the sparkle back.
